Put it behind now work hard for CCAB performance at Ngee Ann city and also ABRSM after that is midyear exam and then continue on haha! alright then thats all I wanna say goodbye!~

choir blog is dead..... haha most probably is LAZYYYYYYY alright learning a new song and workhard on it espeacially tenor.... too small haha! erm... nth much else workhard! im worried about next year as most of the seniors are saying byebye to the choir and it will be like soooo small. again tenor is left with 1 ppl.... the smallest team.... haha! ok thats all schedule will be updated on a later date... but most probably wont, coz this few days is very very de tiring. ok thats all bye!~

hi everyone!!! there will be choir on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday Wednesday to Thursday is led by section ldr so dun forget to go!I will be late on tuesday because of social studies extra lesson maybe until.. 4pm+? maybe, maybe not and Saturday will be the performance!!! Saturday will be from 3pm to around 9pm++ then Saturday maybe i will also be late because i got maths remedial lesson until 3pm ehhhh and tats all i wanna say... and good luck to all the sec1 and sec2 for your oral examination!!!!

A job well done!

I know this is a bit overdue, but it's never too late.

First of all, my heartiest CONGRATULATIONS to all of us! WE DID IT!!! I just wanna say that I rejoice with all of you, and cried tears of joy with you as the results were announced. I have seen each and every single one of you putting in your heart and soul especially at the last leg, and your hard work has paid off. Many of you have even sacrificed your favourite spicy food, just because of this. Let me assure you all once again that all these sacrifices were worth it, and you have seen the result for yourselves.

I have mentioned before, the end of our competition does not mark the end, but rather the beginning of another cycle. And the new cycle starts NOW!

While we are rejoicing in our achievement, not to be a wet blanket, but allow me to warn all of us not to rest on our laurels (i.e. be complacent). Because there is still much more we need to learn for us to enter the international arena! It's my vision for our choir to look beyond SYF and to meet real good international choirs and choristers. Thus, we need to continue to brush up on our foundation.

But still, I wanna thank every single one of you for your committment to the choir. Especially to the seniors for rising up to the occasion. You all have impressed me so so much! (To my Sec 1-3s, you have a lot to learn from the Sec 4-5s in terms of leadership!) Of course, not forgetting our instructor Ms Jayme and choir teacher-in-charge Miss Ng. Without them, we would not have achieved what we did!

Really, words can't express how grateful and how proud I am of every single one of you!

Please have a fruitful next few practices for Speech Day. Remember, do not rest on your laurels and get complacent! And after Speech Day, it's time to FOCUS ON YOUR STUDIES!!!

AWARDS

The Central Judging provides the opportunity for choirs to benchmark their performance standards. There is no pre-determined number of gold, silver or bronze awards. Participating choirs will be awarded certificates based on their performances as follows:

• Gold 80% and above
• Silver 70% to 79%
• Bronze 60% to 69%
• Certificate of Participation 59% and below

To recognise the outstanding achievement of choirs that have attained high performance standards, schools that obtain a final mark of 85% and above will receive the Gold award (with Honours).

Let us work hard ! We're at the final lap, we can do it !

Remember, we are the FIRST CHOIR to perform on the FIRST DAY OF CHOIR SYF! Let us do the school proud, and bring back something memorable ! I want to cry tears of joy on 17th of April 2009 ! I do not want to cry tears of sadness, so let us all cry together to celebrate instead of weeping ! Okay?! Lets do it !

Firstly, I wanna touch upon these few things.

1. Our million-dollar smile ! This is very crucial !
Musicianship, one of the criteria is Expressions! Remember, smile, and with your eyes!

2. Our mouth ! It must ALWAYS be open. OPEN! :O [YES] NOT CLOSE! :l [NO]!

3. Eyes! Always on Ms. Jayme. No eyes should EVER wander away.

4. Please, although practice is hard.. think of it like this.

The other Choirs have not gotten the beat! We got it! So, work hard on this part where we have not mastered yet :

" The wind is their master, he musters and drives, his team of white .... "

This is VERY VERY CRUCIAL for the ending of White Horses.

Do not let our score go below 59%. Make it stay at 20%.

TIPS & TRICKS :

1. Stand straight! Be confident! Shoulders pulled back!

2. Your feet should stand shoulders length apart.

3. Mouth, ALWAYS OPEN!

4. Don't rush, make sure you follow every single move of Ms. Jayme!

5. Remember our secret technique at the end of White Horses ! Do it well!

6. I want to stress on this, no dairy, chilli, e.t.c.! Please control yourselves.

7. Our White Horses is mastered quite well! Do well, and come back proud!

There is no room for embarassment. There is only room for pride.

Let us Seniors leave with pride, and I know I will miss everything we've done together. I really, really hope that this last performance with the Seniors ( for now ) is really meaningful. These past 4 months of 2009, has been of much love and fun with the Choir. I really don't want this spirit to end !

I take this opportunity to thank all the Sec 1's who work so hard for the SYF!

For that, I give them 11 claps each.

I hope to come back one day, and see all of you standing tall and proud.

The Choir has been expanding since 2009, and improving by heaps. Thanks to Ms. Jayme Buk, our new instructor as of 2009, she has trained us to be discplined, serious, instilled in us the passion for singing, musical knowledge, and more. You're right Azmi - the last post was in May, it's now already July (!) and not an update till now!

So, I'll start NAGGING now! :p

Just a reminder that the final JYian Nite rehearsal is TOMORROW (3 July) at 5pm. We meet in the Music Room for warm-ups/run through at 3.30pm. You are NOT required to wear your costumes - just come in your school uniform.

Please make sure you're on your toes during rehearsal... We don't want to be the ones dragging the whole rehearsal... :(

I know you guys must be busy with the exams. Finally we teachers can get a breather while we see you suffer through your papers.. *snigger* But do not envy our jobs when we mark your scripts...! :(

Just an update on what's happening at choir: We'll be performing at our school's JYian Nite on 7 July 2007. (070707 - an easy day to remmeber, eh!) We'll basically sing the 2 choice pieces from our SYF - How Can I Keep From Singing and 瑶山夜歌. There will be 2 practices during the June hols - 18 and 19 June at 9am-12nn, and probably full dress rehearsals during the 1st 2 weeks of Term 3. TO THE SEC 4/5, I know it'll be right smack in the middle of the 1st SPE, but am trying to take a poll from you all if you're keen to sing for JYian Nite... So do spread the word around, and lemme know whether you're interested to sing by tagging or posting! Thanks!

Anyway, heard on the radio on the way home that this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. (You can click on this link:

Post-SYF reflections...

So here I am sitting at my laptop, wondering what I can contribute to this newly-created blog. Just wanna thank Theodore and Amy for starting this blog, with inputs from Christy and Sandy.

As I think back why we created the blog in the first place, I can't help but think about the SYF which happened 2 days ago.

Yes, the result may not be what we wished for, or what we even expected. But it was a good learning experience for everyone. Myself included. On one hand, we have victored as I feel what we have done on Tuesday was even better than our personal best. Personally, I felt it was the best you guys have done. But on the other hand, our personal best may not be good enough. Which in some sense is good as it challenges us to continue to strive for excellence, and not to be complacent.

So Choir, let us not look back to the past and blame ourselves for the results, but let us think ahead to how we can improve for the next SYF. Which is exactly why Mr. Dan Koh wants to meet us. As for the Sec 3E, 4E, 4NA and 5NA students, though this may be your last SYF, think also how you can contribute as alumni members of the choir. You can also come back after you graduate to help the choir out! Do give this some thought.
